Wind turbine
The fact that economics and ecology can be combined is also demonstrated by the four wind turbines erected by order of Electrawinds. These state-of-the-art wind turbines were designed for Enercon by the renowned British architect and designer, Lord Norman Foster.
The four monumental wind turbines line the busy international E17 motorway and each year offer 30 million drivers an inspiring view of a cleaner future.
According to the tradition the wind turbines received a name. We chose for the names of the four Daltons, the criminals from the comic Lucky Luke. With this imitative we want to make a tribute to the spiritual father of Lucky Luke, Maurice De Bevere of Morris, born in Kortrijk. The turbine situated most distant from the exit "Kortrijk-Oost" is called Joe. The others are Jack, William and Averell.
A few facts:
- Blade-tip height: 149 metres
- Rotor diameter: 82 metres
- Mast height: 107 metres
- the largest wind turbines currently built in Flanders.
- The 4 turbines will supply power to 5,900 households
- The 4 turbines will reduce annual CO2 emissions by 10,311 tonnes
